The country’s second largest commercial vehicle maker Ashok LeylandNSE -0.51 % has proposed to declare allowance cuts to a section of the workforce not required to work on “Optional Working Days,” in accordance with a decade-old wage agreement. 

The move was necessitated by slowing automotive sales and mounting inventory.
